Lake Louise, located in Banff National Park in the majestic Canadian Rocky Mountains, is 184 km (115 miles) west of Calgary on the Trans-Canada Highway 1. The hamlet of Lake Louise has a small shopping area, one of the two communities of the area called The Village. The other community is at a higher elevation centered on the Chateau Lake Louise, with is adjacent to Lake Louise.

Driving Directions

From Calgary International Airport (about 2 hours)
Take the only exit road leaving the Airport
Continue to follow this road, it will become Barlow Trail
Take Barlow Trail South to 16th Avenue
Go West (right) onto 16th Avenue
16th Avenue becomes TransCanada Highway 1, which takes you straight through to Banff (45-60 minute drive)
In Banff National Park, follow the signs for the hamlet of Lake Louise, continuing on the TransCanada Highway. Note that there is an entrance fee at the Park gates.
Forty minutes past the town of Banff, take the turn-off marked for Lake Louise
Turn left at the intersection, proceed through 2 stop signs and continue on this road (4 km, 2.4 miles).
